About Us

Arguably one of the oldest tennis clubs in Johannesburg, Marks Park is certainly one of the strongest and most vibrant. We offer well-organised social tennis to a wide range of players on Saturday afternoons and play our fiercely contested club championships at the start of each year. Our teams are strong contenders in the Gauteng Central Combined, Men’s and Ladies Leagues each year and our A teams are frequent Bundes League Champions.

Marks Park A team is the 2021 runner-up in the GROWTH POINT TOP GUNS national tournament, making us number 2 in South Africa! Our resident coaches, George Rudman and Patrick Wycoszarski, provide a range of coaching options to children and adults. Our facilities are outstanding, and Marks Park is a preferred venue for various provincial and national tennis tournaments, not least of which is the ITF JOZI OPEN in September.

How do I go about joining the Tennis Section to play social and competitive tennis?

Come down to social tennis on a Saturday afternoon at 13:30, meet the committee and submit an application form. Contact Lynda (083 760 4261) first to be sure that there are no tournaments in progress.

Is there organised weekday tennis?

Members are encouraged to organise their own practice games during the week.

Are non-members able to use the courts?

Yes. Payment of a visitor’s fee is required at the Main Club Reception/Bar. However, it should be noted that Tennis Section members have preferential use of the facilities at all times.

Can I join organised tennis as a beginner?

No. Unfortunately, you have to be able to play at a reasonable level. Having said that, we accommodate players from the top of the Bundes League to the bottom of the Second League. If you are a beginner, please consider having coaching before making an application.

How do I organise tennis lessons for myself or my child?

Contact George (083 254 6611) or Patrick (083 704 9781)
